Yemoja: Goddess of Flow

Our Goddess Guide for Flow is Yemoja. She is the Goddess of all that flows.

Her mantra is:
I am an ocean of creativity.
I give birth to what exists within me.

Yemoja represents the creative force of the unconscious and the secret depths that bring the unseen into the physical realm.

She’s an African Goddess who gave birth to 14 other gods and goddesses. She is caring and nurturing, but she is also fierce and protective.

She is usually worshipped at the ocean or by any flowing body of water. She represents cleansing, renewing, inspiration, and bringing new life into the world.

Yemoja can create flow anywhere there might be a block or stagnation. She is the feminine essence that sets creative energy into motion. She is here to help you dive into your own unconscious as well as the collective unconscious to retrieve secrets and wisdom.

Water is the element that held us in the womb. Yemoja wants us to cleanse anything that’s holding us back. Most of the time, the things that hold us back are subconscious programming, conditioning, and old thoughts that replay like a broken record.

To invoke Yemoja, ask yourself: What do I need to bring from the depths into the material world?

I’m going to sing a song of her invocation — and what I’d like you to do as you listen is tap your body when I tap the drum. You can learn the entire song or just the first stanza to call her in.

Invocation Song

Oh mama Yemoja
You are the queen of the sea
Let your waves of life
Wash over me

Praise all life
That comes from the ocean
The living coral reefs
The whales and the dolphins

Allow me to enter
The depths of the sea
Where the seed of life
Waits for me

Primordial sea
Star of the universe
Protected by the light
Of my pure heart

With devotion
I surrender
To the ways of the sea
Forever, forever
