Let’s talk about setting up your altar. Creating an altar can be so many different things. I don't want you to get too complex with this. In fact, it needs to be very simple. You may already have an altar, but I do recommend having a separate altar for your devotional practice related to your business.
Your altar can be really minimal with just a few sacred items, or you can get creative and put as many things as you want on there. It's really all about what activates that feeling within yourself that allows you to remember why you're here. It's a home base. I call this devotional time “tagging home base.” So every day for your Sadhana, you're going to come and you're going to tag home base.
That is really all this is about. You're going to fill this altar with items that are sacred to you. You don't need to go to the store or buy anything. The items you choose can be really simple things like a beautiful candle holder with a candle in it, your favorite crystals, some sacred objects, herbs—whatever is calling you. The items are really going to be specific to you and to what you are cultivating. They can even be religious items.
Your business is a devotional practice in the world, and the things that are on your altar are going to be different. If your business involves pregnancy and birth, you may have a statue of a pregnant woman on your altar or something that represents an egg.
I do want you to try to have some objects that are specific to your services on your altar.
You can use religious items, non-religious items—whatever you like. You can use bones, plants, photographs, seashells, pretty much anything from nature. Water in a container. Handwritten affirmations. Even beloved books. Love notes. Letters you’ve received. Letters you’ve written to yourself. Artwork. Crystals. Feathers. Stones. Special jewelry. My altar has jewelry on it.
It’s really nice to place everything on top of a beautiful fabric or tapestry, so if you have a fabric that you really love, please use it.
The most important key items are:
A candle. You want to have a candle (or two) on your altar. Obviously, never leave fire unattended.
Something from all the elements. For water, use an object holding water. For air, a feather or incense. For earth, a plant, herb, soil, leaves, or whatever works for you. Just make sure you don't have anything that could rot on your altar.
That’s never good. So if you do add things like fresh flowers, just make sure they are tended to and removed when they die.
Another fun option is to put photographs on your altar. If you’re somebody who struggles with self-love or worthiness, it can be powerful to put a picture of yourself — especially as a child — on your altar. I worked with an altar with an image of myself as a child for around five years, and it was incredibly empowering. It helped me heal my inner child and reminded me to show up for her.
Another idea, if it excites you, is to include an object for every color of the rainbow—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet — or just one object with all the colors. This way, you carry the frequency of the rainbow in your peripheral vision.
You can also choose one color for the entire altar. For example:
Red, if you’re focusing on your root and foundations.
Yellow, if you’re working on self-confidence and strength.
Purple, if you’re pulling in divine information.
Definitely get custom with it. There is no wrong way to do it. I want you to be engaged in your creativity and do what feels juicy and good for you. This isn’t something you need to shop for — unless you truly need something like a candle holder.
I highly encourage you to use things that already have meaning to you.
The only other thing I’ll say is about the direction you point your altar. The four cardinal directions are:
North = Earth
East = Air
South = Fire
West = Water
If you’re working with a specific element, you can position your altar in that direction.
If you’re seasoned at making altars, you already know what to do. Just remember: being of service and creating this devotional space for your 5D self to come through into the 3D, and to be of service to the collective, is what matters most. Always return to that intention.
And as I said before, if you have other altars in your home, I encourage you to have a specific altar just for this.
Please understand how important it is to participate in this daily Sadhana at your altar. Commit to visiting it daily for the next eight weeks.
